The company is ready to change the industry for the better. Expansion of its operations is something that the current leadership is focused on.

Expansion in Spain

One of the operations that OSI Group has been involved in is the expansion of the food plants in different parts of the globe. One of the plants that have been increased is in Toledo Spain. This plant is used for the production of pork, chicken and beef products. The plant recently underwent expansion, and now it is going to change its productivity. The company is interested in expanding its supply of chicken products, and that is why it has come up with a plan to double the production of chicken products. From 12,000 tons in a year, it will now be producing 24,000 tons a year.

Why expand the plant in Toledo?

The reason for the expansion of the Toledo plant was to meet the high demand for chicken products that were coming from Spain and Portugal. For the past one decade, the number of people who are interested in these products has been going up. The demand started at six percent, and now it is at eight percent. This is an indication that even in the future, there might be further increases. OSI Group has taken the initiative of expanding this plant so that it can meet the increased demand ones it is encountered. The expansion decision was based on consumer data trend. The expansion of this facility involved an additional 22,600 square feet space being added.

Employment opportunities

After the expansion of this plant, a lot has changed in this company. There has been an increase in the number of people who are employed by the company. After the expansion of this plant 20 more job opportunities have been created. Among the posts that are now available include the position of product development manager. Currently, OSI Group is a leading food provider in the world. It has about 20,000 employees inclusive of 65 facilities spread across 17 countries. Its development from the humble start of the 20th-century American immigrant history is pretty impressive. Today, the company has developed into an international food supplier.

The Beginning of OSI Group

The history of OSI Group dates to the era of the American immigrant experience when Otto Kolschowsky and his sons arrived in the United States of America as German immigrants. Settling in Chicago, he first opened a boutique firm that sold meat and other animal products to the community. The retail market needed his services. Therefore, he was joined by his sons in the service delivery process. With time, the company received more local purchase orders thereby attracting more clients to the database. That was a reflection of Otto’s ability to grow his firm by implementing excellent business strategies. He also realized that with more clients, the company needed additional professional help.

Development

When the First World War ended, Otto realized that there was the need to expand his business further. At that moment, OSI Industries expanded the firm into a wholesale supplier. The business covered Maywood, an additional suburb in Chicago. Within a decade, OSI Industries added an additional stable footing in the city. The American community began to notice a huge difference in the quality of food they bought. During the Second World War, OSI Industries had started adapting to the advanced technology that helped it with the development process.

The Transition

Over the next two decades after World War One, OSI Group underwent tremendous transitions that have majorly contributed to the brand it is as of today. One core transition is the Kroc’s franchising model that provided a consistent product for every restaurant. At the same time, OSI Industries was hired to cater to different clients including McDonald’s. Over time, McDonald’s presence in the country grew because of OSI  Industries’s contribution.

The Observation

OSI Group is now a force to reckon with in the industry of food supply. The company has vastly acquired different food suppliers including Baho Food, Tyson Food, and the Toledo Firm.

Last week the Bistro Pierre Lapin was opened by Harold Moore in New York’s Greenwich Village. He experienced the greatest successes of his life in this area. His new venture is a French cafe but it is much more casual than the famous New York restaurants. Harold Moore does not understand why the French chefs have allowed French food to be comprised of oysters, steak tartar and steak fritters. He stated that in France these are all specializations not located in any one restaurant. The spirit of Bistro Pierre Lapin is a balance of a classic spirit mixed with creativity.

Harold Moore missed creating French cuisine and made the decision to go back to what was missing in his life. His decision to depart from traditional and elite French cuisine was not entirely personal. He saw the bottom dropping out of the marketplace. He realized the current French restaurants were from another era and not bringing in any new customers. The customers they already had only came a couple times each month. The restaurants were simply not keeping up. Once Harold Moore decided to make the change to new American cuisine he changed the approach to fine dining he had always used in the past. He made his restaurant less expensive and much more approachable. His goal was to create better food that was more easily accessible in New York. He believes this approach will work much better for the average person. He appreciates the West Village but also understands every single customer does not have billions of dollars. This may have been true for the clientele of the more luxurious establishments but he believes the customers will be happier with his concepts.

Harold Moore discovered the cooking of the south in downtown Hudson Square in New York when he opened his restaurant. He found a traditional southern dinner available at Harold’s Meat + Three. The recipes embrace generations of southern cooking yet have a unique twist. It was when he was immersed in this concept he was drawn back to French food. He appreciates the richness of the history and it takes him back in time. He believes history is always present in both Italian and French food.
