New Brunswick resident Sam Boraie is more than a real estate developer. He’s also a proud supporter of his local community. As a philanthropist, Boraie works closely with two important New Brunswick institutions: the State Theater and Elijah’s Promise. Throughout the years, support from the Boraie family has brought thousands of dollars to these community pillars.


The New Jersey State Theatre is an important cultural landmark in the New Brunswick area. It serves 30,000 students every year with educational programs that create a lifelong appreciation of fine arts. From free performance tickets to classic music classes to teacher appreciation nights, the State Theatre works hard to serve students and education professionals. Boraie Development is one of their sustaining partners whose ongoing philanthropy allows the theatre to continue its outreach efforts.


Sam Boraie and Boraie Development have worked closely with another community non-profit, Elijah’s Promise, for years. As a mainstay of the New Brunswick community, Elijah’s Promise gives more than 100,000 meals per year to New Jersey’s neediest residents. The Promise Culinary School offers affordable training in culinary arts, baking and pastry arts for unemployed or disabled Jersey residents. By working with the local government and charitable partners like Boraie Development, Elijah’s Promise is able to offer free or low-cost meals, vocational training and social services.


Elijah’s Promise works closely with the community to offer fun events and options for family togetherness. Their annual Race Against Hunger & Chili Cook-off is a great way to promote exercise in early November and features great chili dishes from staff and volunteers at the non-profit. Over 500 runners compete every year.


Chef’s Night is the biggest annual fundraiser for Elijah’s Promise. Every year, the organization raises at least 25% of its budget from this one-night event. Community leaders come together to enjoy fine dining and delicious samples from over 30 New Jersey chefs. This event wouldn’t be possible without the support of Boraie Development, which donated $5,000 to Elijah’s Promise in 2016.
