What Happened to America’s Mayor?

On Monday, May 28, Rudy Giuliani, America’s Mayor, decided to attend or was gifted tickets to the New York Yankees baseball game. The mayor was introduced to the crowd over the video monitor and this resulted in a prolonged booing of the mayor. In this moment, a national news story was born.

Rudy Giuliani was the New York City mayor when 9/11 happened in 2001. His strong support for the police and fire department and his support of Muslims and immigrants during this time led to a peaceful ending of the disaster that was 9/11. Clearly this was a man who could do no wrong.

Move forward to 2018. Recently, Giuliani agreed to serve as counsel to President Trump. The President lost his lead counsel who left when the FBI began to investigate him for some of his business dealings. Giuliani, who the President knew from New York agreed to take his place. He subsequently did some interviews on various cable networks that seemed to confuse the issues in the Trump case. More importantly, Giuliani seemed confused about the Trump case.

In any event, Giuliani was vilified for going over to support the “Monster” meaning President Trump. Most of the New York newspaper essentially called him a traitor to New York and to the progressive cause. All of this led to a sound booing at the Yankees game.

What did Guillain think? He tweeted the Yankee fans always boo those people they like. It does not seem to have had any affect on his decision at this point. Several other publications pointed out in column or editorials just how low Giuliani had sunk by pointing all the actions by the President that they consider abhorrent.

Apparently, President Trump is the only person who is not currently very upset with “America’s mayor.” Time will tell how this works out for Mayor Giuliani. Meanwhile, the pressure for him to quit as the President’s lawyer continues.
