An English entrepreneur, Greg Secker has extensive experience and knowledge of foreign exchange as well as international financial trading.
Lynn Fosse, the senior editor at CEOCFO Magazine, interviewed Greg Secker and published the details of the interview on June 19, 2017. Greg Secker has always lived by the motto of accepting a challenge and then finding a way of handling it later. He is the “why not” type of guy. It is easy to wonder how Greg found himself in the world of finance with an academic background in agriculture and food sciences. Apparently, while at the university, he was building and selling computers. In the process, he learned how to code using older programmes, and that gave him quite an experience.
During a job fair, he interacted with a guy at the Financial Services Stand of Thomas Cook who was also hugely interested in computers. Greg would later attend an interview, and he got the job. Within a short time, he was working at Virtual Trading Desk and everything else is history. Greg borrowed £5000 and turned it into £60,000 in less than a year. During this venture, he learned that one must adopt specific principles to enjoy success. One must have a well-calculated risk management strategies, exercise discipline and also focus on his/her trading plan.
Greg Secker shares his knowledge with people of all walks of life, especially through public speaking. So far, he has been on stage approximately 6000 times. Greg Secker Foundation has been instrumental in shaping the lives of young people – this was the original mission. The foundation began by organizing a Youth Leadership Summit where famous personalities talked about leadership, health, wealth and entrepreneurship. Similar programmes were launched in South Africa with plans underway to roll out one in Australia. However, the foundation’s recent focus has been on rebuilding a Philippines community that was affected by the Typhoon Haiyan in 2013. Greg Secker has been aggressively advocating for the need for businesses to integrate philanthropy into their central operating models. These efforts saw him enrolled in the membership of the board of Ambassadors for City Philanthropy.
