The Loss of Stephen Murray Is Still Felt To This Day

When someone the stature of Stephen Murray passes away, it really hits home for a lot of people. He was not just an ordinary individual or the average run of the mill person. For one, he was President and chief executive officer of CCMP Capital as well as being a philanthropist. Read more: Stephen P. Murray – President @ CCMP Capital Advisors

No matter what he was in charge of what he put his heart, body, and soul into it, he did it all the way. Like a great football player, he left it all on the field. People can recognize that and they take their cue from that and see the way business is supposed to be done.

For Stephen Murray, much like anyone that is successful, he had to start at college. He was a strong believer in the power of education. He always tried to preach that to anyone and everyone that he encountered, especially young teens.

Stephen knew it could make a difference in their lives and impact them well into the future. After all, he saw what it did for him, and he was living proof of what a good education can do for you. His education started in 1984 at the great Boston College where he received a degree in economics.

From there, he was not finished with his education, as Stephen Murray wanted to get a master’s degree. He always felt that the more you learn and the more you know, the better prepared you will be for future situations that come your way in life.

These are educators that have knowledge to give, and Stephen was like a sponge. He never was afraid to ask questions, stay after class, and get as much information as possible.

His master’s degree was from Columbia Business School in business administrator. He wanted to be the best at business so he could learn the inner workings of how it all gets done.

Stephen Murray also, as mentioned, was never shy about giving back. He remembered the people that helped him along the way, which is why he gave back to Boston College as that was such a big part of the man he became.

He also gave back to Make-A-Wish in Metro New York. He knew the difference this could make in someone’s life that was going through a hard time. Everyone he helped and encountered, they remembered him and never forgot him. That is the true measure of any person.

An insight on the benefits of automating a correctional facility with The Securus Technologies

Securus Technologies have risen over the years to become one of the largest service providers in areas of government information management solutions, parolee investigation and tracking, and detainee communications. Located in Atlanta, Georgia, the United States, its headquarters, the company has provided criminal justice to over 2600 correctional facilities in the 45 states. An approximation of over 1,000,000 inmates nationwide.

The company is committed to providing new features to ensure that all their customers are equipped with modern and most effective equipment. So far, the company prides itself in saving time by over 65% as compared to using paper forms for inmate requests such as the grievance forms, medical sheets, sign up and acceptance forms. A lot of precious time wasted in routing, logging, copying, filing and retrieving this data is being saved, and can then be utilized better in the provision of security and safety of the inmates.

With this automation, the service delivery to the inmates is greatly enhanced. That is because the custom forms can be easily made available. These ConnectUs inmate forms are digitalized and can be custom made to suit any need that may arise without much hustle. In addition to that, the inmates are allowed to do self-service, saving them from all the protocols and standard procedures set for performing some actions. They can also get a real-time feedback through the system from various departments. Its significance cannot be underestimated as the inmates are satisfied that there are no dubious or underhand methods applied while handling their documents.

The staff working on the correctional facilities has never been any happier. The platform enables them to identify the inmate’s location by day and time. The system is also used to govern the kinds of information that the inmates fill in the forms. That is necessary to ward off those mischievous ones from filling irrelevant or false details.

Finding a Center at the Kabbalah Centre

Steeped in thousands of years of tradition, Kabbalah has long been an avenue of Jewish faith and spiritual practice. While it was traditionally practiced by men over the age of forty it has come to be understood that a new era calls for a different set of rules, and practitioners come from all walks of life with the common thread of faith running between them.
Today the Kabbalah Centre provides guidance to a diverse set of students who are interested in studying this important spiritual practice. Based out of Los Angeles, California, the non-profit institute keeps its doors open to all of those who are interested in pursuing the ancient spiritual teachings of Kabbalah. Unlike many previous doctrines, the Kabbalah Centre approaches the practice of Kabbalah as a largely self contained pursuit rather than using an understanding of Jewish texts as a prerequisite. This is in keeping with their view of Kabbalah as a supplement to faith rather than an alternative approach to it.

Kabbalah holds that humans only really perceive one percent of the world, and that beneath the surface are a set of complex and symbolic relationships that man must divine without the use of conventional senses. Coming from the ten emanations and attributes of God, the Sephirot, the world itself is understood to be a manifestation of God’s Light. In order to be at harmony with the world and manifest one’s will within it, Kabbalah teaches its adherents to understand the Light.

It is no wonder that an institution like the Kabbalah Centre would prove a major draw for everyone from wealthy and famous celebrities to the average person. The opportunity to pursue a higher spiritual life and to receive guidance in understanding the Light of God is something that few seekers of truth could pass up. In this era of change the Kabbalah Centre is proving to be a center of enlightenment.

Squaw Valley CEO Andy Wirth says the Plan to connect Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows was Dreamed Up Decades Ago

The merger of Squaw Valley and Alpine meadows made a whole lot of fuss in the ski resort industry. Some say it was just a matter of time before the merge happened considering how adjacent the two iconic ski resorts are. You can literally see one mountain from the top of the other. Squaw Valley owners purchased its neighbor Alpine Meadows in 2011. Turning what was once two competing companies into one juggernaut of a ski resort.

Although the two resorts have merged, they’re still not fully unified. Skiers have to drive from one parking lot to the other in order to ski each mountain. A problem Squaw Valley Ski Holdings is well aware of. In an effort to solve the problem, the company has announced plans to build a gondola with the aspiration of connecting the two ski resorts.

The gondola would operate in three parts that include: starting at the bottom of Squaw Valley, up and over the ridge between the two mountains, and down to the bottom of Alpine Meadows.

Squaw Valley CEO Andy Wirth and Troy Caldwell, the owner of the land between the two resorts, reached an agreement they’re both happy with. Connecting the two ski areas would be impossible without Caldwell’s cooperation.

Squaw Valley does still face some resistance from the U.S. Forest Service and Placer County. Squaw Valley is also in the act of expanding their base village. A plan that has garnered much controversy and protest. The company is asking the public to support the building of the gondola on their website. Hoping the public support will help persuade the U.S. Forest Service and Placer County to give them the go ahead to start work on the proposed gondola.

In an interview with Powder, Squaw Valley CEO Andy Wirth explained that the plan to connect the two mountains originated from Squaw Valley founder Wayne Poulsen. Poulsen envisioned the two ski resorts being connected decades ago.

San Francisco is Getting a Tony Bennett Statue

San Francisco is about to get a new statue, one in the image of singer Tony Bennett. The statue is currently being made by sculptor Bruce Wolfe. Bennett, who sings the song ‘I Left My Heart in San Francisco’ is a bit of an icon in the city. Wolfe captured him for the statue in person. Bennett traveled to Wolfe’s studio to pose for the sculpture. A sitting that was only supposed to happen one day, he actually came for several days in a row to make it happen, wearing the same suit each day in order to keep the image uniform.

Wolfe says that he needed the three days in order to get the statue just right, something they were both interested in happening. No one wants to be commemorated in statue form forever with something that isn’t perfect, right?

The statue is San Francisco’s birthday gift to the singer. He turns 90 on Friday, August 19th. As a gift, the city will be unveiling the statue on the lawn at the Fairmont Hotel. The Fairmont is located in San Francisco’s Nob Hill neighborhood. It was at that hotel that Bennett made his San Francisco debut, a performance that happened in 1954. The unveiling will happen at noon, early enough to ensure that Bennett can make it to his next big engagement: the SF Giants game.

Bennett’s sold ‘I Left My Heart in San Francisco’ has become a staple at the games, played each night as the fans start to file out of the bleachers. On Friday, Bennett himself will be performing the tune, a move that no doubt will keep fans in the stands a little longer.

Saturday, the iconic singer will stay in town and perform at a charity event for Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. The event, which will be held at the Fairmont, the new home of his statue, will raise money for a new charity entitled the Tony Bennett Fund for Emergency Pediatric Care. Tickets to that event are quite expensive, with the cheapest seats in the house selling for $1,000.

CEO Andy Wirth talks Squaw Valley-Alpine Meadows Gondola

Squaw Valley Ski Resort has been an integral part of the Olympic Valley in California for the past 60 or so years. For this entire time span Squaw Valley has always had one addition in their sights that could not quite be added: a gondola connection to nearby Alpine Meadows.

Travelers from all over the country and, frankly, the world have traveled to Squaw Valley in order to tear up the slopes and a connecting gondola would give them the chance to hit up another mountain without the inconvenience of having to pack up, load out, and drive. Now these skiers can rest easy as the gondola is finally happening, according to Powder Magazine. Read more: Andy Wirth – Squaw Valley CEO and Philanthropist

A base to base gondola has finally been announced in order to connect Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows into one giant skiing resort where visitors don’t even need to take off their gear to get a whole new fresh place to hit the slopes.

According to TohoeTopia, Andy Wirth, the CEO of Squaw Valley Ski, has been dreaming about this happening since at least 2011 but one problem always presented itself: a 460 section of land called White Wolf.

White Wolf is owned by Troy Caldwell and a deal had to be made that left both parties happy before the construction could begin. In the end a deal was made which would have the gondola created in three parts while completely avoiding the wildlife reserve — thus even keeping the local wildlife happy.

Andy Wirth has been getting more and more active in the Lake Tahoe region over the past couple of years and his work is starting to really make an impact on the people in the area. Wirth is serving as a chairman on the Reno Airport Authority Board while also being active with his own philanthropic ventures.

Wirth’s attachment to the area is evident and as he continues to turn Squaw Valley into a global destination, tourism dollars will continue to fly in — thus providing a much needed boon to the local economy.

Andy Wirth gained national fame and acclaim after his near fatal skydiving accident was picked up in the papers and on the internet. Wirth was an avid skydiving enthusiast who would go jumping out in Lodi, California on a frequent basis.

One fateful day Wirth’s jump was pushed off course and he was forced to put down near a vineyard. Wirth ended up clipping a telephone pole and thus losing his entire arm. In danger of bleeding out only Wirth’s calm, collected mentality kept him from going into shock.

Wirth would undergo 23 surgeries to have his arm reattached while staying in solid bed rest for 50 days before finally returning to work.

Street Medicine Program For The Homeless Starts Up In NYC

In New York, a medical team ventures out on the streets to treat the homeless. The street medicine program is sponsored by the Center for Urban Community Services. Homelessness requires some severe living and hardship. Fear of authority, shame, and mistrust of the system create a downward circle that gets smaller every day.

To counteract these negative effects, two nurses make contact with the homeless, reports the Huffington Post. Each nurse is partnered with a social worker who has been doing street outreach. The nurses do assessments, referrals, and treatment. Housing and psychiatric care are what the social workers have to offer.

The team approach works better than when the social workers are alone on the street. 200 homeless a year can be reached with this technique. This program is based on Boston Health Care for the Homeless, a successful homeless outreach and follow-up program. They have been in operation since 1985. Their common sense approach states that if they will not come to us, we will go to them.

The more serious health problems of the homeless include foot problems, open sores, diabetes, and high blood pressure. All of these conditions are exacerbated by poor health. There is limited health care that can be done on the street. Blood work cannot be done because the temperature cannot be controlled. This medical unit is on foot after all. Long-term care must be set up with a clinic or hospital.

Some of the homeless are in denial about their medical issues. Others have had a negative experience when dealing with a clinic or hospital. The lines of communication are opened by the street interaction with a medical professional. 60,000 homeless people live in shelters in New York. Another 2800 homeless people are estimated to be out on the street.
