The beautiful city of Chicago was the scene of President Obama’s farewell address to the nation on Tuesday night. There in his hometown, Barack Obama bid an emotional good-bye after eight years in office. He paid a moving tribute to the First Lady Michelle “wife, mother of my children and best friend.”
President Obama then discussed his daughters, Malia and Sasha, calling them amazing young women. “You are smart and you are beautiful. But more importantly, you are kind and you are thoughtful and you are full of passion.”
It was quite moving, and Malia wiped tears from her eyes. Sasha, however, was not in attendance to hear her father’s wonderful speech. That is when her absence became quite noticeable during the farewell address.
The internet went wild with speculation about the Obama’s youngest daughter.
Where was Sasha, and why would she miss a huge milestone like this one?
Social media sites like Twitter were ablaze with questions, under the hashtag #WhereIsSasha.
Relax, city of Chicago and the rest of the world. Sasha had a good excuse for missing the President’s farewell address.
It’s called school and a next day exam, and that, ladies and gentlemen, is the reason the 15-year-old daughter of Barack Obama was missing in action during his good-bye speech in the Windy City. Sasha was busy hitting the books, confirmed CBS News’ Mark Knoller. The White House told Knoller that Sasha did not make the trip to Chicago, and she decided to stay in D.C. for an exam on Wednesday morning. By the way, the test was in science, according to the school website.
The Obamas will remain residing in the area until Sasha graduates. She’s a student at Washington, D.C.’s prestigious Sidwell Friends School. Malia and Cheslea Clinton both graduated from Sidwell.
