A tragic house in Lake Ozark, Missouri has left four brothers dead. Thursday’s early morning fire claimed the lives of 14-year-old Tyler Otto, 8-year-old Carson Otto, 5-year-old Max Otto, and 4-year-old Levi Otto. Dispatchers received a call at 12:51 a.m, arriving a few minutes later at 1 a.m. By that time, the house had already been swallowed in flames and the conditions left responders unable to enter the burning house. Located at 1636 Carol Road, the ranch house was already partially collapsed when the firefighters and aid vehicles arrived. The fire was so massive that it began to spread to the house next door. Responders from Osage Beach, Sunrise Beach, Eldon, and Rocky Mount fire departments all aided in fighting the fire.
Because the residents’ vehicles were not at the house at the time of the fire, neighbors told the authorities that they believed nobody was inside. Unfortunately, when the parents arrived to the burning house, they confirmed that the children were inside. When authorities were finally able to enter the house, they found the bodies of the four children in addition to two family pets.
There are many unanswered questions in this investigation. The cause of the blaze has not been determined and authorities are doubtful that the reason may ever be uncovered due to the extensive damage. Officials were clear to state they see no evidence that the fire was deliberately set. Although authorities did not find any smoke detectors in the rubble of the house, they said that they could have been completely destroyed in the fire. Autopsies of the deceased will be conducted later this week.
